Outdoorsmen News 7/9/2009

We had a great meeting Tuesday at Smith's Place and a good turn out with nine guys making it. We studied the first part of Luke chapter 21 and ended with a good discussion on temptation and weakness and how we are supposed to face them as Christian men. It's open, candid conversation on these types of topics that many say yield the most benefit from our Outdoorsmen meetings. Over 75% of you (the recipients of these news letters) have never attended an Outdoorsmen meeting. I encourage you to come and see what we're all about. Heck, you just might end up having a great time and meet some new friends.

Request for assistance:
Pastor John Fenlason has asked to borrow a number of large (6-8 person) tents for the Hannaford Junior Camp at Mizpah Christian Retreat the weekend of July 18-19. If you have a tent you are willing to lend please make arrangements to get it to Pastor John by Wednesday July 15. You can contact John by e-mailing him from this form http://www.hannaford.org/contact.php?name=John%20Fenlason or calling the church office at the number listed at the bottom of that web page.

Outdoorsmen meeting/potluck/family picnic - Sunday August 9, Noble home in Montana City
We want you all to come out for the afternoon and bring your families. We'll have a potluck picnic and fire up the bbq while we watch the kids swim and injure themselves on our slip-n-slide (long, steep hill into a chain-link fence). We'll hold our Outdoorsmen meeting as well and listen to a program/seminar about what it means to be a Christian man. Should be a lot of fun.

Setup for Archery Tournament - Friday evening, August 14 - Herrick home near York
We need four to six able-bodied men to help deploy targets for the shoot and assist with any other setup. Please send e-mail to me or contact Jeffery Herrick directly.

Outdoorsmen Fourth Annual Archery Tournament - August 15
Location Herrick Home near York - please contact Jeffrey Herrick for more information http://www.hannaford.org/contact.php?name=Jeffrey%20Herrick

Outdoorsmen Family Day at the Lake - Tentatively Rescheduled for Saturday August 22 or Saturday August 29
Glen has contacted L&C county re. reserving the pavilion at Clark's Bay (near Lakeside on Hauser) and it is booked through the end of August. Probably the best bet is to plan for White Sandy and have someone get out there REALLY EARLY to hold the pavilions there. We need feedback on this from all of you. Who's interested? What date is best? Who's going to be camping there the night before and thus be the perfect candidate for holding the pavilions?
